Sarah Palin is a Jerk

Good God! Way to introduce yourself Sarah! Are you always so condescending, sarcastic, divisive, and shrill? I was happy to see that the exact words that came to my mind when hearing her were echoed by a few others, including Harry Reid. She belittled everything Obama has ever done in his life.

Did the DNC speakers belittle McCain for thinking that being a POW qualified him to be president? NO, they didn’t! Here is a quote from the e-mail that was sent out from David Plouffe, Obama’s campaign manager:

I saw John McCain's attack squad of negative, cynical politicians. They lied about Barack Obama and Joe Biden, and they attacked you for being a part of this campaign.
But worst of all -- and this deserves to be noted -- they insulted the very idea that ordinary people have a role to play in our political process.

Both Rudy Giuliani and Sarah Palin specifically mocked Barack's experience as a community organizer on the South Side of Chicago more than two decades ago, where he worked with people who had lost jobs and been left behind when the local steel plants closed.

Let's clarify something for them right now.

Community organizing is how ordinary people respond to out-of-touch politicians and their failed policies.

And it's no surprise that, after eight years of George Bush, millions of people have found that by coming together in their local communities they can change the course of history. That promise is what our campaign has been about from the beginning.

Also, two unrelated people, Keith Olbermann and Andrew Sullivan, BOTH compared Palin to Tracy Flick from the movie Election, especially when she does that little nose wrinkle thing when she is saying something really nasty. Voters can’t really buy this crap can they? (Oh wait, the same voters RE-ELECTED the worst presdent in history in 2004, so I guess anything is possible.)

Cold, condescending, and crass. I listened to commentary on NPR after the speech last night and laughed out loud several times. First, if her goal was to read a speech well, she succeeded. Second, if the GOP set out to run a negative conference that speaks nothing to their policy or failures and focus on how bad the democrats are, they succeeded.
